This training will focus on Early Math and Literacy development in young children. Drawing on current research and developmentally appropriate practice for children (infant through pre-K) we will explore best practice for introducing & supporting the two topics in center--based curriculum. Math topics include: supporting a child's development of counting, cardinality, subitize, classification, order, & measurement. Literacy topics include, supporting a child's development of print motivation, vocabulary, print awareness, book handling, narrative skills letter knowledge & phonological awareness. Activities appropriate for child age will be presented and discussed, along with appropriate development of how these topics can be presented within curriculum.
