OSPI Mentor Academy is a 2-day training opportunity for experienced teachers focused on developing their skills to serve in a mentoring and/or coaching role. The primary emphasis is on ways to support the growth and development of novice teachers, although the skills are transferable to working with veteran teachers as well. Topics include roles and stances of mentors; skills for holding learning-focused conversation; strategies for conducting observations, gathering data, and providing feedback; effective classroom management; supporting teachers in the new state evaluation system; and professional conduct. Participants will receive a copy of Mentoring Matters.
