Description
Join us on Wednesday, April 18th for an early literacy learning experience! ESD 123 is hosting a wonderful presentation from OSPI's (Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction) Aira Jackson, Director of English Language Arts and Literacy, about the new Learning Pathways in Literacy. The Learning Pathways in Literacy is a comprehensive document on Early Literacy Development: From Foundational Communication to Advanced Thinking, Reading and Writing. This is part of the Early Literacy Pathway which itself was created to support educators, caregivers and families in understanding and supporting Washington's children's development in literacy and beyond. Each attendee will receive a copy of the Learning Pathways in Literacy document, which was written using frameworks in the areas of social-emotional development, cognitive development, language and literacy development, and reading and writing development. It incorporates Special Education access points, Early Learning and Development Guidelines (ELG), GOLD (formerly Teaching Strategies GOLD), used in WaKIDS & ECEAP as well as Head Start Learning Outcomes (HS) and the Common Core Standards (CCSS).
