Unlocking Funds Workshop - Early Learning Survey
The passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) in December 2015 gave schools and districts flexibility in how to spend federal funds. ESSA allows some funding sources to be blended, or “braided,” to support programs that improve student learning. In order to help facilitate the braiding and blending of federal and state funds that school districts might be able to use, OSPI created Unlocking Federal and Start Program Funds to Support Student Success.
With your help, OSPI would like to add an early learning chapter to Unlocking Federal and State Programs Funds to Support Student Success to highlight early-learning specific activities that a school or LEA may support with federal, state and local funds.
Please help us by taking the following survey by 4 pm March 8th or forwarding it on to others who might be able to provide information about early learning funding and activities in your school district. It’s okay to submit a partial survey.
Here is the survey link: https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4863585/Early-Learning-Funding-and-Activity-Types
Thank you for your time!

Description
The workshop will provide support to LEAs as they “braid” or coordinate federal and state program funds and plan for the following school year. It will focus on using the Unlocking Federal and State Program Funds to Support Student Success guidance document. Federal and state program staff from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and LEA leaders will work together to present real examples of braiding funds within local school districts. Information and tools for braiding funds will be presented with guided practice built-in. A portion of the workshop is reserved for LEA teams to use the tools to plan for next year while OSPI staff provide on-site support.
