Description
Smoke from the California wildfires poured into our area this past summer and many wonder of the impact of this dirty air on our health.
Join Washington Green Schools and Dr. Heidi Roop from the UW Climate Science Group to explore current research to make connections between Climate Change and Human Health as we examine questions such as the following:
- How is our changing climate impacting our health?
- Is there a way to protect the air we breath and water we drink from damaging pollution?
- How can we build a more resilient community in the face of environmental degradation?
As the day progresses, teachers will have time to plan activities that will bring climate science learning into their classroom.
The training has an elementary focus and is based on the NGSS Disciplinary Core Ideas listed below. K-12 teachers are welcome to attend.
- Life Science: From Molecules to Organisms; Structures and Processes; Biological Evolution: Unity and Diversity and Ecosystems
- Earth Systems and Earth & Human Activity
