Description
nPower Teachers is a STEM teacher externship that partners with regional businesses to learn from professionals about the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their industry. In March we will visit several businesses at the Port of Kalama to explore how chemistry relates to environmental problems and how local industries support global agriculture. Teachers will visit Emerald Chemical, Steelscape, TEMCO and the Port headquarters and spend the afternoon developing career-connected classroom activities to engage their students in STEM and career awareness. Protocols for the development of career-connected learning tasks will be shared. nPower Teachers is supported by the #WAClimeTime grant.
Substitute costs to the first 25 teachers registered will be reimbursed.
Please note the location of this workshop is at the Port of Kalama. We will meet at the Port offices and board busses for industry tours.
Participants will do a considerable amount of walking (indoors and outdoors) on this visit.
Lunch will be provided for this session.
