Description
Learn the beginnings of "Early Numeracy" and the pathways that young children progress through in their understanding of Mathematics.
In this Early Numeracy module, we examine what we know about children and how they learn through play. The Counting and Cardinality module helps participants understand what children must learn in order to learn the counting sequence and understand the quantity associated with each number. We will engage in hands-on activities that can be easily replicated in the classroom to further develop students’ understanding of each concept.
Event Notes
Early Numeracy: Counting and Cardinality (PK-3) is one of three Early Learning Numeracy professional development modules focused on teachers of PreK – Kindergarten. The three modules are aligned to the Learning Pathways in Numeracy created by OSPI in 2014. They cover the domains of Counting and Cardinality, Operations and Algebraic Thinking, and Geometry.
