K-3 teachers will understand how skill development and knowledge development need to occur parallel in the early foundational skills of literacy.
- Understand the content and progression of the WSLS reading foundational skills.
- Know and understand that Washington State has a Comprehensive Literacy Plan (CLP) that supports implementation of the ELA standards.
- Understand new legislation around K-4 literacy.
- Understand and use strategies focused at the Foundational Skills in literacy.
