Job coaches play a very important role in supported

employment. Depending on the situation, a job coach may fulfill one

or more of the following roles:

􀁹 Technician

􀁹 Consultant

􀁹 Advocate

Methods of job coaching that involve more specific job training and

guidance include Direct Instruction and Systematic Instruction (which

may include the use of a Task Analysis).  An important component of any job-training plan is to develop a

timeline for Fading Supports, and to consider Ongoing or Long-

Term Workplace Supports that will contribute to continued job

success.
