Description

Session #1 Interpreting Categorical and Quantitative Data - teachers will use technology (Geogebra and other applets) to   to create dot plots, histograms, and box plots, and calculate statistics for the single count variable data sets.  They will  explore the effects of modifying the data set and interpret differences between two sets.  Teachers will also use technology to find best-fit functions for two-variable data sets, and calculate and interpret the correlation coefficient and residuals.

Session #2 Conditional Probability and the Rules of Probability - teachers will use technology to simulate probability situations. Teachers will use conditional probability to determine whether events are independent, and use technology to construct and perform calculations on two-way tables to represent the data.

Session #3 Normal distributions and Making Inferences -Teachers will discuss making inferences and justify conclusions from sample surveys, experiments, and observational studies.  Teachers will use technology to find the mean and standard deviation for a data set to determine the appropriateness of using a normal distribution to estimate population percentages.
