Description
As educators, how do we know what specific skills learners are struggling with, and how can we tell if our interventions are actually working?
Curriculum-based evaluation (CBE; Howell & Nolet, 2001) offers clear procedures for analyzing K-5 students' academic skills, determining where instruction needs to focus, and evaluating progress. This step-by-step training illustrates the problem-solving process using curriculum-based measurement (CBM) for collecting assessment information that is directly related to intervention and program planning.
Participants will learn about CBE for diagnostic reading assessment for pinpointing specific needs in decoding and interventions.
In sessions 1 and 2 participants will:
Examine tools for CBE in early reading
Practice step-by-step data-based decision making
Design intervention program targeting specific needs
