Description

Dyslexia represents the most common and most prevalent of all known learning disabilities and impacts approximately 1 in 5 individuals. Current, convergent research continues to uncover structural and functional variations in the brains of individuals with dyslexia, which explain why some individuals struggle to master reading, writing, spelling and sometimes math, despite intelligence, effort and quality instruction.  This interactive workshop introduces participants to characteristics of dyslexia and related learning disabilities, including common deficits and strengths, clarifies common misunderstandings, and introduces participants to the framework and specific elements of Structured Literacy Instruction, which is essential for students with dyslexia but beneficial for all literacy learners.
