Description

There is a saying: that climate is what one expects; and weather is what one gets. And when one’s expectations shift because of climate change, it becomes difficult to predict how best to respond to the problems and needs that arise. This is most true for our migrant students and their families, who live very close to the land. In this workshop, we will build understanding of engineering, how climate change affects our migrant students and their families, and explore how the life experiences and backgrounds of migrant students can be funds of knowledge that empower them to engineer change in the world around them.

Target Audience: Grades K-5.

This workshop is free and the NWESD will reimburse districts for the teachers substitute which is made possible through Washington State Legislature's statewide Climate Science Proviso.
