Description
In this 8-week online course, participants will learn how to use literature to help create identity-safe classrooms and strengthen racial and cultural identity in our students. When students have a strong sense of identity, they are more successful at school. Integrating these concepts through literature is a natural way to promote safe and inclusive classrooms.
NOTE: This book study differs from our usual format in that the course will consist of reading online articles and children’s books that you will use with your students throughout the course. As a result, you will need to block out 15-20 minutes weekly for a read-aloud, and 30 minutes-1 hour for one longer lesson during Week 7 of the course.
