Elementary teachers are invited to attend this one day session to engage in learning and planning to better support English learners in our classrooms. Teachers from the 2019 ClimeTime Summer Institute and K-12 teachers from the 2018-2019 CASTL cohort are encouraged to apply as we will build on Ambitious Science Teaching. Experience with AST is not required to attend. Some understanding on model-based science learning and teaching is preferred
Expected session success criteria include the following:
- Awareness of the link between model-based science instruction and English learners engagement in school
- Strategies to support English learners in science
- Plan for adding English learner supports to an upcoming lesson or unit

School districts will be reimbursed for teacher release time to support your attendance. The purchase order for substitute reimbursement will be generated after registration closes. This allows us to produce one PO per district. Please let us know if you need a confirmation letter to receive approval to attend.

Visitor parking faces the corner of Oakesdale and SW 7th street, however there is more parking available around the back in staff parking if necessary
Puyallup Room – 1st floor. You do not need to sign in at the front.
