Description
Ensuring that our classroom libraries and instruction include a wide range of voices and perspectives is a vital part of creating a culturally responsive and sustaining environment. In this workshop, participants will learn about Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop’s work around texts as mirrors, windows, and sliding glass doors, and the importance of both reflecting and expanding our students’ experiences through literacy. A plethora of resources to locate, evaluate, and integrate inclusive and equitable texts into your teaching will be shared.
