Description

How do we increase engagement, access, and critical thinking in literacy?  Integrating art and creative experiences! Join us for an interactive and engaging learning opportunity in which we will explore ways to meaningfully integrate art in literacy instructions.  We will explore ways to connect with local Spokane artists and virtual art events.  We will explore the connections between reading literature standards & art standards. We will explore the ways in which teachers can pair text with art and encourage critical thinking strategies and inspire students to be creative. We will explore increasing student engagement through art and how art can increase equity and access for students.  We will apply literacy strategies of close viewing and close reading to deepen student understanding of multimedia text sets.  Teachers will also receive a comprehensive list of practical resources and videos to take with them.
