Description
nPower Teachers is a STEM teacher externship that partners with regional businesses to learn from professionals about the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their industry. In October we will visit the family-owned Goose Point Oysters in Bay Center WA to learn about careers in the shellfish industry and how climate science is affecting oyster cultivation from both an economic and sustainability perspective. Teachers visit the business for half a day, and spend the second half developing career-connected classroom activities to engage their students in STEM and career awareness. Protocols for the development of career-connected learning tasks will be shared.
Substitute costs to the first 25 teachers registered will be reimbursed.
Please note the location of this workshop is Goose Point Oysters (morning session) and the afternoon session will meet at Naselle-Gray’s River School District.
Participants will be provided with dress requirements for the day.
An hour is provided for lunch, however locations are sparse. It is suggested participants bring their lunch along.
