This session will dive deep into the components of CER (Claims Evidence Reasoning) and how scientific argumentation can be used as a tool to help students develop scientific literacy in the secondary grades. You will study the parts of CER through a variety of hands-on modeled activities and discussion. Tools and resources to scaffold the CER process will be provided and there will be an opportunity to refine and adapt these materials for your students. Time will be also be time provided for teachers to develop a CER performance task to implement in their classroom based on the science kit they will be receiving in the upcoming school year.
