Description
nPower Teachers is a STEM teacher externship that partners with local businesses to learn from professionals about the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their industry. This year we will explore in-demand careers that intersect with climate science. Teachers visit the business for half a day, and spend the second half with ESD staff being immersed in career-connected classroom activities to engage their students in STEM and career awareness.
In January, we partner with Clark Public Utilities to explore careers in the utility industry. We will tour the facility to learn from some of the following departments/individuals about the problems they solve and the skills they need to succeed in their professions: Business Applications, Work Group Leaders, Construction Services, Technical Services, Construction Design, Engineering and Planning, Accounting, Field Services, Warehouse and Facilities, Forestry Maintenance, Safety Managing, Transmission and Distribution, Water Technical Assistance, Water Quality, Environmental Services, and more. We will also visit different departments within the organization to develop a deeper understanding of how the organization functions as a sum of crucial parts
-Substitute costs to districts will be reimbursed to the first 25 teachers.
- This session will meet at Clark PUD for the entire day. Lunch will be provided.
