Description

Come learn with EarthGen, formerly known as Washington Green Schools, in this virtual professional development opportunity designed for teachers in ESD 112. Participants will have a chance to authentically engage with activities and experts as they grow their understanding how climate change has and will impact their community. Analyze and interpret recent climate science data with Dr. Kat Huybers, a climate scientist and lecturer from the University of Washington and progress understanding on the most salient climate change indicators in the region. Additionally, teachers will explore the efforts to conserve and protect shellfish, its cultural significance and how these efforts are indicative of a greater effort to address climate change. Teachers will leave this training with increased preparedness to leverage a local species or climate change impact in their classroom to spur action in their community.

This workshop includes three live Zoom sessions and some asynchronous work to be done before each Zoom session.

Event Notes

Teachers will receive a $150 participation stipend upon completion of the entire 8 hour STEM Seminar experience.
