Description

Join our book study of Dr. Zaretta Hammond’s text titled, “Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain.” We will cultivate community and to better understand the science behind culturally responsive teaching. We will also support one another in deeply engaging with the ideas presented in this book and strive to apply  them to our educational contexts. There will be three synchronous zoom sessions and we will also have the option of asynchronously engaging in dialogue with colleagues through discussion boards.

We invite teachers, paraeducators, and administrators who are interested in deepening their knowledge of culturally responsive practices, understanding importance in creating culturally sustaining classrooms and schools, and applying these ideas to school reform.

Event Notes

Participants will be sent a copy of the book, Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain by Zaretta Hammond in December. This will give members time to start reading the text before our first meeting in January. Asynchronous options for engagement will be offered via Canvas discussion boards in case participants cannot attend group meetings.
