Threat Assessment Training for Arlington School District Employees

Level 1

Fri, August 26 2022 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Administered by NWESD

Presenters

  • Erin Bafaro

Description

The purpose of a threat assessment is to prevent targeted violence. The appraisal of risk in a school setting focuses on action, communication, and circumstances that may suggest an individual intends to mount an attack and is engaged in planning or preparing for that event. The threat assessment process is centered upon an analysis of the facts and evidence of behavior in a given situation, and begins with the expertise of the school staff who support the student daily.

This 3-hour Student Threat Assessment (STA) training will cover the essential concepts of the Salem-Keizer Threat Assessment System, and will clarify the threat assessment process from risk detection to planning for physical and psychological safety.

This training will review the following:

  • Youth Risk Factors
  • Supportive Research and Best Practice Recommendations
  • Application of STA concepts
  • Administration of the Student Threat Assessment protocol
