Guest Presenters:  Megan Sloan and Barry Hoonan

This day will focus on implementing a writer’s workshop in your classroom.  Specific examples and lessons for setting up an environment that encourages real reading and writing will be demonstrated.   A sample schedule and ideas for organizing time will be shown, as well as lessons for teaching foundational writing skills, as well as the Standards for Writing. Specific examples for conferring with students as a way of assessing writers, setting goals, and connecting with each student will be a focus, as well as the importance of choice.
