Getting started with the Smarter Balanced brief writes can sometimes be overwhelming and intimidating for classroom teachers, especially because this is such a different way of assessing writing. This session will focus on understanding the different types of brief writes and how they work together with other writing expectations. In addition, educators can learn about how to use the brief write interim teacher hand scoring materials to calibrate for collaborative scoring settings, such as with PLC groups.
