    This is a two-session training (pdEnroller 99475 & 99476)) on the Level 2 Salem-Keiser Protocol. The level 2 training requires that you have attended the Level 1 training.

  1. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION
    1. Brief review of basic concepts of threat assessment
    2. Introduce materials
    3. History and justification

 

  1. BASIC PRINCIPLES AND SUPPORTIVE RESEARCH
    1. Brief review of youth violence, examining research and best practices perspective recommendations for assessment and management
    2. Review of dynamics and risk factors for reactive aggression and targeted violence within K-12 schools

 

  1. SYSTEMS, PROTOCOLS, APPLICATION
    1. Brief review of Level 1 protocol as a reference to the Level 2 team
    2. Application of threat assessment concepts and research in a community-based protocol, called Level 2
      1. Direct instruction on conducting Level 2 assessments
    3. Review of a centralized and community-based Level 2 thread assessment system 
      1. Review local and regional resources and implementation issues for each school district.
      2. Review available youth-serving agency supports for a community-based Level II team.
      3. Brainstorm process to adapt Level 2 team and those resources.

 

  1. Case study exercise and Q & A (as time permits)
