Description

This three-session series (four days) is designed to provide science teachers with a deeper understanding of the Washington State K-12 ELA Learning Standards that impact teaching and learning in the science classroom. Teachers will develop a deeper understanding of the ELA standards, how they complement the Next Generation Science Standards, and strategies to implement in their classrooms. Open to K-12 teachers, this is ideal for ELA and Science teacher teams to attend together. 

September 21-22:

  • Deep Dive into CCSS Standards for Science
  • Academic Vocabulary
  • Speaking and Listening is Scientific
  • What Do We Mean by Close Reading?

December 7:

  • Text Based Questions
  • Writing From Evidence

February 8:

  • Writing from Evidence Part 2 
  • Studies, Science and Technical Subjects
