Description
Participants will learn how to engage students with math problems that are relevant to the world around them. Content is for grades 6-12 and will focus on mathematical modeling that may include algebra, statistics, data analysis, multiple representations and functions and will incorporate technology.
Participants will learn whole group, small group and individual instructional strategies of project-based learning. Teachers will demonstrate the concepts from the year-long workshop by developing a lesson plan and class demonstration of a culturally relevant mathematical modeling activity that includes focus on the needs of ELL students.
