Daily 5: Developing and Supporting Independent Learners
Learn how to structure literacy time so students work independently and productively while you deliver instruction in small groups and one-on-one. Appropriate for pre-K to 12th grade classrooms.
- engage students with choice
- give students adequate time to practice tasks that lead to literacy: Read to Self, Work on Writing, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, and Word Work
- understand the foundational elements and brain research associated with the Daily 5
- learn strategies to build stamina and independence with all students.
- receive a three-month complimentary membership or extension to The Daily CAFE website.
Each weekly webinar is prerecorded and available for playback any time during the session. We recommend that participants have access to The Daily 5: Fostering Literacy in the Elementary Grades, Second edition, while participating in this seminar.
Event Notes
August 30, 2017 - September 26, 2017
Participants will receive a copy of The Daily 5, Second Edition by Gail Boushey & Joan Moser (The 2 Sisters). The online webinar guides participants through the book and the companion website, which you will receive access to for 3 months as part of this class.
Course work. Each week, participants receive access to an online folder containing videos, links to online resources, discussion questions, and a recorded webinar. Allison answers questions and leads discussions online throughout the course.
Discussion board. Participants receive sign-in credentials for an inclusive discussion board
Access. All discussions and materials, including the webinars, are available until four weeks after the seminar ends.
Additionally, local participants will meet weekly to discuss and share ideas
