Adverse Childhood Experiences & Trauma-Informed School Strategies to Build Relationships and Reduce Stress - BREWSTER
Presenters

Description
Though often unrecognized, complex trauma as a result of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) is common among our students. Becoming a school with a trauma-sensitive environment requires attention to at least two critical elements - reducing stress and improving relationships. Participants will receive an overview of the ACEs research followed by the evidence for focusing on stress and relationships, and highlighting some of the many evidence-based and promising strategies to do so.
Participants will be empowered to recognize youth in need and respond to those seeking help. This training will dispel common myths surrounding suicide, provide facts about risk factors and warning signs, engage trusted adults in suicide prevention and responses, describe the Signs of Suicide (SOS) student program, and provide resources for those seeking help.
