2018 Ambitious Science Teaching (AST) Boot Camp

2018 Ambitious Science Teaching (AST) Boot Camp

June 25-27 2018 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Presenters

  • Mechelle LaLanne

Description

During these three days, participants will engage as learners in the Ambitious Science Teaching practices (AST).  The AST framework includes the following:  1) planning for engagement with important science ideas; 2) eliciting students' ideas; 3) supporting on-going changes in students' thinking; and 4) pressing for evidence-based explanations.

Participants will experience the process of creating phenomenon-anchored, student-centered learning experiences and will be able to apply that understanding to their own units or to build upon unit starters that currently exist.

Participants will have an opportunity to sign up to participate in Reflective Planning Days.  These will be announced at the workshop
