In this 8-week online course, participants will read Culturally Responsive Teaching & the Brain by Zaretta Hammond to learn how to build the cognitive resources of culturally diverse students, as a way to close the achievement gap.Culturally Responsive Teaching is about using culture as a cognitive scaffold to increase student learning. It involves building awareness and knowledge of culture and the brain, building learning partnerships with students and building intellectual capacity to create independent learners.
