Physics of a Changing Climate: Energy Conservation and Transfer

Physics of a Changing Climate: Energy Conservation and Transfer

Thu, February 27 2020 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Presenters

  • Cindy Simonsen
  • Roslind Echols

Description

The physics of the conservation and transfer of energy ultimately drives the earth systems that result in the planet's weather and climate. Circulation patterns of the atmosphere and oceans result in the climate worldwide and as climate changes shifts occur in these patterns. Learn about these complex systems, how these systems interact and how models help scientists and students better understand our planet's climate systems.

Target Audience: Physics teachers and secondary physical science teachers.

ClimeTime is a statewide initiative of the Washington Governor, the Washington State Legislature, OSPI, and the Association of Educational Service Districts (AESD). Participation is paid for by the Washington State Legislature’s 2019 Climate Science Proviso. Districts will be reimbursed by Northwest Educational Service District for substitute release time.  Six (6) STEM Clock Hours will be available for this opportunity.
