Western science is steeped in Western culture.  How might that inhibit or exclude students with other cultural backgrounds from learning?    How do we create instructional practices that welcome and develop a wide spread interest in STEM fields?  What is meant by Indigenous Ways of Knowing? In this workshop participants will experience practices that can be used in the classroom and learn about Indigenous Ways of Knowing.

Brandon Williams, Archaeological Technician II, Falcon Cultural Resources and Clarissa James, Curriculum Development Specialist, Falcon Cultural Resources will join in leading and facilitating the workshop.

ClimeTime is a statewide initiative of the Washington Governor, the Washington State Legislature, OSPI, and the Association of Educational Service Districts (AESD). Participation is paid for by the Washington State Legislature’s 2018 Climate Science Proviso. Districts will be reimbursed by Northwest Educational Service District for substitute release time.  Six (6) STEM Clock Hours will be available for this opportunity.
