Description
Educators don’t become culturally responsive as the result of one professional development experience. Based on the bestselling book, Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain, this collaborative is designed to help teams understand how the various elements of culturally responsive practice work together to create the conditions for students to thrive and embrace rigor.
This opportunity is designed for district/school teams to become grounded in some presuppositions about educational equity, including a deeper understanding of historical racism in educational systems.
On Days 3 & 4, Zaretta Hammond will lead us through two days of learning where teams will discover the critical connections between student learning, culturally responsive practices and neuroscience that allows you to customize culturally responsive teaching.
Teams will continue this work by engaging in collaborative inquiry for equity in their schools/districts and learn how to incorporate Zaretta’s culturally responsive teaching into your district’s teaching framework.
