Description
This six-part workshop series is designed to help teachers implement high-quality, NGSS-aligned engineering projects in their classroom. We will explore the engineering design process, the teacher’s role guiding students engaged in engineering work, and strategies for bringing any project into closer alignment with the NGSS. Any K-12 teacher is welcome, with an emphasis on connecting engineering to all grades of science and CTE. Our topics will include:
November 28: What Is Engineering? What Can It Be?
December 14: Yes, Your Students Can Define Problems, Criteria, and Constraints
January 11: Better Brainstorming for Better Design
February 8: Engineering Documentation and Authentic Testing
March 8: Being the “Guide on the Side” in Engineering Projects
April 12: Designing and Adapting Authentic Engineering Projects
Attendance at all sessions is NOT required, but you must attend at least two sessions in order to qualify for STEM Clock Hours.
Snacks and beverages are provided; feel free to bring your own dinner if you’d like!
