Description

This course is designed for teachers in grades K-5, and will prepare participants to teach the FREE Code.org lessons for their specific grade level.   The lessons may be implemented as one unit or over the course of a semester.

Participants will learn how to have students create computer programs that will help them learn to collaborate with others, develop problem-solving skills, and persist through difficult tasks. Participants will also learn how to work with students to study programming concepts, computational thinking, digital citizenship, and develop interactive games or stories they can share. Teachers will learn how to access and utilize Code.org’s free curriculum for CSF, which is aligned to the newly revised 2017 CSTA Standards.

Teachers will receive:

  • Printed curriculum guide

  • Fun Code.org swag

  • 6.5 STEM Clock hours

  • Light breakfast and Lunch

You do not need to know anything about computer science to attend this class!  We will all learn together and the curriculum makes it super easy to teach our students computer science.

Please bring your device with internet connection (you can connect to our wireless), such as a laptop/surface/ipad. We will have a few  laptops if necessary.
