Educational support groups are a major component of a Student Assistance system. When implementing groups, it is important to follow a set of objectives that align with Project SUCCESS standards. That said, there is no set curricula to follow and a million logistics to work out. In this training, we will take time to reflect on the value of operating support groups and ways to do so effectively. Participants will walk away with opportunities to practice and gain insight on such topics as:

• Setting the stage: considerations related to logistics
• Boundary keeping: being therapeutic without doing therapy
• Navigating the role of the facilitator – opportunities for practice
• Teaching skills to teens – opportunities for practice
