Description

ELA + STEM = AWESOME!

How can reading story books about the extraordinary lives of diverse scientists, engineers, and inventors inspire your students and enhance your existing science and STEM teaching?  Come find out in this workshop!  This workshop will be great for elementary librarians, science or STEM specialist, and classroom teachers.

This workshop is based on the National Science Teachers Association book series called "Eureka! Science Activity and Stories."  The lesson plan books (one focused on K-2 and one on 3-5) are organized around the NGSS Science and Engineering Practices.  Each lesson plan book contains reading guides and STEM lesson plans for 27 different science biographies!  We will be including ways to adapt these lessons for remote and blended learning environments.

Registration for this workshop is $50.

Participants will receive:

  • Your Choice of either the K-2 or 3-5 "Eureka! Science Activity and Stories" lesson plan book mailed to your home
  • 8 STEM Clock Hours (5 synchronous and 3 asynchronous hours; clock hour fee applies)
