Description

Participants will develop a deeper understanding of the use of quality science assessment tasks that support student learning. Participants will also explore how the NGSS dimension of Crosscutting Concepts support student reasoning about complex science phenomena. This course will dive into strategies that make formative assessment one of the best instructional strategies for increasing student learning. 

Join us in this three part course series where we:

Explore high-quality assessment tools and resources 

Deepen our understanding of the role of Crosscutting Concepts supporting student reasoning

Identify a Task to use with your Students 

Implement and reflect with colleagues in a supportive environment 

This course will meet for three sessions from 4:30-6:00

November 2nd 

November 9th 

December 13th

Teachers participating in the course will receive a free copy of the NSTA book: Crosscutting Concepts: Strengthening Science and Engineering Learning 

Teachers also have the opportunity to earn a $200 course stipend for:

Participation via computer in all three sessions: $100 

Implementing a formative assessment task and CCC prompts with their students and sharing student work (names redacted) with our community: $100
