Description
Professional building consultants may be hired by school districts to update building inventories and provide Certified Building Condition Assessments (BCAs), among other services. OSPI School Facilities programs that require Certified Building Condition Assessment scores include:
- Study and Survey, as part of the School Construction Assistance Program (SCAP) funding process
- Prioritization for SCAP projects, per WAC 392-343-515
- Asset Preservation Program
- Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM)
Consultants may be any of the following with experience in building condition assessments :
- State-licensed architects
- State-licensed engineers
- Project managers
- Building inspectors
Event Notes
Primary description of the event is as follows:
- Day-long training focusing on BCA scoring system and use of ICOS (Inventory and Condition of Schools) database.
- Hands-on training in creating facility and building in ICOS and entering BCA scores
- Unlike previous BCA trainings, there will be very minimal introduction to SCAP
Notes:
It is highly recommended you bring a laptop or tablet (must have Internet Explorer) to get the most out of the training.
Light refreshments are provided. Plan for lunch on your own.
Because this class is targeting a specific audience, you need to provide a Washington State architect license number or engineer number. If not, a copy of your resume showing building, facility, or maintenance related experience is acceptable.
In order to be certified, registrants will need to provide a Washington State architect license number or engineer license number. As an alternative, non-architects/engineers will be required to provide a copy of their resume showing building, facility, or maintenance related experience.
