Using Local Phenomena to Engage Students
Presenters
- Derek Jones
- Brad Street
Description
Learn how hyper-local environmental phenomena can anchor a classroom science unit and make science engaging and meaningful for students. We will look at how to select a local phenomena that fits your curriculum and takes into account student’s interest and identity. We'll send you outside to heighten your observational skills and brainstorm possible phenomena and then return to our session to brainstorm ideas and workshop what teachers could might do at their school with their curriculum. Teachers will leave this workshop with ideas and examples they can put to use.
