This Student Support pre-conference is scheduled for May 22nd, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Wenatchee Convention Center. This session will focus on supporting postsecondary transitions for youth in foster care and those experiencing homelessness.

Peggy Carlson is currently serving as the Foster Care Program Supervisor at the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Portland State University and has over twenty years’ experience advocating for vulnerable youth. Her previous roles include District McKinney-Vento Liaison, Foster Parent Recruitment/Retention Specialist, and Director of a nonprofit camp for foster youth. Peggy is certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid and trained in School Mobilization Assistance Response. 

Jess Lewis is currently serving as the Homeless Student Stability Education Program (HSSeP) Supervisor at the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. During her tenure at OSPI, Jess has worked in Homeless Education, Equity and Civil Rights, Behavior Intervention, and K-12 Discipline.  

Jess has her BA in Social Welfare from the University of Washington and a Master’s in Public Administration from Grand Canyon University. She is currently working on her Educational Doctorate in K-12 Leadership. She is a trained mediator, crisis intervention specialist, and restorative justice facilitator.
