Description

WaKIDS 101 is the one-time asynchronous online training required for all kindergarten teachers new to WaKIDS (including Transitional Kindergarten and certificated Special Education teachers who provide instruction to kindergarten children with disabilities).

WaKIDS 101 explores all three components of WaKIDS (Family Connection, Early Learning Collaboration, and Whole-child Assessment), elements of high-quality full-day kindergarten, documentation, observation, and the MyTeachingStrategies® platform. Participants will gain a better understanding of how observation is foundational to effective and developmentally appropriate instruction, how to create a developmentally appropriate and high-quality kindergarten environment and will explore strategies and resources for collecting and leveling documentation.

Please Note the Following:

  1. Teachers are required to complete WaKIDS 101 prior to administering WaKIDS for the 2021-22 school year.
  2. WaKIDS 101 is a self-paced asynchronous course that does not offer in-person meetings. Participants can complete the 12 hours of coursework at their own pace throughout the course window.
  3. Optional Zoom office hours are available for additional support
  4. Within WaKIDS 101 is the opportunity to complete the Interrater Reliability (IRR) Certification (worth 2 additional clock hours, for a total of 14 clock hours).
