  • Heidi Roop
  • Becky Bronstein

Description

Come learn with Washington Green Schools in this virtual professional development opportunity designed exclusively for K-12 teachers in ESD 114, 121, and 189. Participants will have a chance to authentically engage with activities and experts as they grow their understanding of the local impacts of the changing climate on Puget Sound. Analyze and interpret recent climate science data with Dr. Heidi Roop, a climate scientist and communicator from the UW Climate Impacts Group. Model the relationship between global climate change and local environmental and social impacts. Explore possible solutions to environmental challenges that you and your students can partake in at home and at school.

OSPI worked closely with the nine ESDs to develop content-specific online learning for educators during Long-Term School Closure (LTSC). This online course is a result of that collaboration.

Event Notes

Upon completion of both days of training, participants will receive 4 free STEM clock hours courtesy of WGS. In addition, there will be an optional at-home exercise for which a $100 stipend may be offered.
