Mon, June 17 2019 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Description

Leadership studies have historically focused on positive and constructive practices, often ignoring the dark side of leadership that results in harmful outcomes to individuals and organizations.  In this dynamic, interactive workshop we will examine:

  • Systems thinking approach to toxic leadership
  • Interrelated factors that foster toxicity in workplaces: destructive leaders, susceptible followers, conducive environments
  • Identify the conducive environmental factors that foster toxicity: culture, climate and the absence of checks and balances
  • Learn to apply strategies that mitigate the implications of destructive leadership: decreased employee performance, turnover, poor communication, motivation

Review studies related to the dark side of educational leadership: destructive leadership behaviors and workplace attitudes, dark side of teaching
