Description
Across our nation, school and special education leaders continue to struggle with implementing effective practices and structures to effectively address the disproportionate representation and outcomes for children of color. With the newly implemented Disproportionality Calculations going into effect across our state this year and a critical need to close the opportunity gaps in schools, this PLC is an opportunity for you to deepen your learning and knowledge related to the reduction of special education disproportionality in your district. Using the book Solving Disproportionality and Achieving Equity: A Leader’s Guide to Using Data to Change Hearts and Minds, this PLC will focus on supporting district leaders to identify policy/practice root causes for disproportionality and develop an action plan to address systemic and structural changes across their district.
This PLC will meet from 12:00 pm -2:30 pm following the LEA Director’s meetings on October 17, November 21, January 16 and March 19. The PLC is free and lunch will be provided! Districts are encouraged to register as a team! Space is limited! Clock hours available.
