Description
In implementing a MTSS (multi-tiered system of support) framework for Conflict Engagement, it is our objective to increase the capacity of those working in the context of the IDEA, to see conflict as an essential context for innovation and creativity and shared learning around the complex needs of the students served. We believe that this will be evidenced by:
- Increased effectiveness and satisfaction in the design and implementation of the IEP (individualized education program) process,
- Increased effectiveness at collaboration between special education and general education staff as they work to provide services for students in the Least Restrictive Environment,
- Increased implementation of strategies in support of effective parent engagement in the IEP process and their child’s education.
In this series of seminars we will explore our individual and collective relationship to conflict. We will explore both the challenges and opportunities of conflict and will develop specific skills and strategies for being with this inevitable experience. The content of this first-year seminar is foundational to all subsequent seminar in this three-year project. This series of seminars is designed for district teams comprised of individuals who are responsible for the implementation of IDEA in schools or at the district-level.
Individuals who are interested are encouraged to contact a special education administrator within their district to assemble a team. Only one representative per team should register and provide payment. District team representatives are responsible for disseminating course information to their team.
