Description
Toxic stormwater is degrading the water quality of Puget Sound and surrounding waterways. What can school communities do to engineer solutions around stormwater? How does climate change exacerbate this issue and what can students do about it? Join Washington Green Schools and ESD 121 to explore current research and make connections to local climate-related phenomena while engaging the Next Generation Science Standards and their Science and Engineering Practices.
This Professional Learning Community of 30 teachers will attend one 6-hour Saturday training and two 90-minute ZOOM calls. Teachers will receive 15 STEM Clock Hours for their participation.
Additionally, teachers will receive compensation from ESD 121 for the Saturday training, $240, and an additional $240 for implementation, which includes the following:
- Attend two 90-minute ZOOM calls (November 21 and January 15 from 4-5:30 pm)
- Provide artifacts of implementation
- Participate in program evaluation
This training and ZOOM video calls are the first part in a two-part series on stormwater. We strongly encourage teachers to attend both parts, which will begin in February 2020 with two 90-minute ZOOM calls to follow in March and April. Stay tuned for a separate PDEnroller link to sign up.
