Description: Educators have always been in a unique position to identify children who may be abused. In this time of virtual learning, that has become much more dynamic. Early detection can stop further harm and help families access needed support/resources. This course will review signs and symptoms for educators to be attentive to, review their role as a mandated reporter, and offer insights from the field in how to support youth who exhibit signs of distress of any kind.
Objectives:
- Recognizing Child Abuse and Neglect
- Understand your role and the protocol to follow as a Mandated Reporter
- Offer ideas for providing ongoing support and connection with youth displaying signs for concern
